The project at a glance.

Synergy is WA’s largest electricity generator and retailer of gas and electricity with more than one million customers across the categories of residential, business and industry. 

Many West Aussies were experiencing difficulties in paying their energy - and when you’re Synergy’s size there is a massive target on your back. Synergy’s customers were feeling financially stressed, frustrated and confused on how they could improve their bill and future proof their homes.  The challenge was to face customers frustrations head on and engage with them in a transparent and truly helpful way in order to drive change in mindset.

The solution, in a bit more detail.

The Synergy Energy Tool is a play and learn, data-driven experience that gives customers a better understanding of their energy consumption and how this impacts their bill. The self-discovery tool leans into their frustrations, rather than shying away from them by transparently visualising the true cost fo running the heater for 8hrs a night, 7 days a week.

The tool was created for both large touch screens that toured shopping centres, as well as the desktop/mobile so customers could access it within the comfort of their own home.

Customer’s were able to produce a set of results that showed them how they could make a positive impact on their energy bills through tweaks in their behaviour or by installing solar. The results were often surprising to customers, and we saw a significant shift in customer attitude – Synergy as problem solver, rather than problem generator.
