The project at a glance.
Cadesign Form, a specialist 3D visualisation studio, found their customers were coming under increasing pressure to deliver more content, more quickly for ever-growing product ranges within the building, furniture and retail industries. The objective of the project was to create a Content On Demand solution that enabled key international clients to create a vast range of accurate, bespoke 3D images that featured their products.
The key design challenge centred around creating a simple, empowering experience that enabled busy, mentally-stretched users with hectic days filled with meetings and competing deadlines to create beautiful, accurate 3D renders, easily.
To find the ‘sweet spot’ between easy asset creation and robust, detailed product library configuration, co-designs were used with key stakeholders across Europe and the UK. The sessions focused on understanding more about their day to day challenges before sharing conceptual prototypes to tease out the balance of customisation vs ease of use.
The resulting solution, the Content On Demand Platform, is a flexible and creative tool that enables users to create compelling moodboards and 3D scenes.
Control: Users are able to toggle between a grid-like moodboard or entire scene view, so they can add products and customise configurations in the view that best suits their work style and needs
Guided & playful: To reduce cognitive load and disengagement the customisation flow is visual and tactile, encouraging playful discovery (instead of jargon heavy drop downs and check boxes)
Remove guesswork: Interaction patterns featuring hotspots and modals that allows users to drill down into detail on a product or stay at a high level and keeps track of what they’ve changed
The COD platform is currently used by a key international client with 2000 stores across Europe and 78,000 strong workforce.
